Measuring of the intelligence

First attempts to measure intelligence appeared in the 19th century when IQ was determined by the size of human brain. Nowadays we use other methods of measuring of the intelligence - tests of intelligence.

Complex and partial tests

IQ tests are either complex measuring more abilities of a person - not only IQ (here belong e.g.: analytical test, Army alfa and Army beta tests, intelligence structure test, Wechsler´s tests, etc) or partial intelligence tests measuring only IQ values, in particular the general intelligence (Domino test, CF 1, CF 2, CF3, UNESCO test, Raven´s progressive matrices and others).

IQ test parts

IQ test consists of several verbal subtests (understanding, arithmetic, simmilarities, vocabulary etc) and several achievment subtests (e.g. complete the image, fitting subjects together, organizing images into the correct order etc).

First attempts to measure intelligence appeared in the 19th century when IQ was determined by the size of human brain. Nowadays we use other methods of measuring of the intelligence - tests of intelligence. They were first used by Alfréd Binet and they were intended for children. Since then tests have been modernized, modified and further enlarger to the form we know today when IQ can be measured accross all age-groups.

Testing areas

Nowadays, various psychological tests are used for measuring intelligence. These are established by professionals in this field and they concern mostly following areas: perception and visual intelligence, communication abilities and language intelligence, technical skills and practical intelligence and logical thinking and mathematical intelligence.
